A GIRL NAMED JAEN
Sometimes, an artist comes along whose music combines undeniable honesty and sophistication, introspection and accessibility, vulnerability and strength. a girl named jaen blends these qualities together seamlessly on her debut opus DUSK, an impressive recording that couples modern electronic soundscapes with acoustic instrumentation, and compelling lyrics with infectious hooks.
Although a girl named jaen's sound can be described as juxtaposing Madonna's melodic sensibilities with Alanis Morissette's raw emotion, at times echoing Shirley Manson's sensual coolness and an underground Sneaker Pimps feel, her signature sound definitely stands alone, remarkably fresh and interesting. Says the seasoned vocalist/songwriter, "I wanted to make an album on my own terms, to have fun musically while exploring lyrical themes that were important or interesting to me. And to embrace some issues that most people have trouble even acknowledging."
a girl named jaen's songs have been featured in critically acclaimed independent feature films (Love Philosophy, The Young Unknowns and Body Language), popular prime-time television shows (CBS' That's Life, WB's Grosse Pointe, MTV's Live Through This), and numerous sites on the Internet (Icebox.com's Hangman). You can purchase a girl named jaen's latest cd, DUSK, at www.cdbaby.com/cd/agnj.
AMANDA ADAMS
Introduced to the family piano at age four, Amanda Adams proved her inherent talent by composing her first music at age five. Entitled "A Storm Is Coming," the music reflected first a pastoral interlude graduating into a hammering crescendo. Her mother described the piece as having roots in the tumultuous weather patterns, including tornadoes, which ravage areas of Ohio where Amanda grew up on a farm. Through her adolescent years, while studying piano, she experienced entire towns devastated by nature's fury. Always, she was able to translate the emotions felt at the scene by incorporating her muse into musical scores. This aptitude prevails today with the vast diverse repertoire she has composed.
AMNOT
Amnot was started in 2003 by C.J. Bergmen who is the worship leader for the Element at Highlands Church in North Scottsdale Arizona. The band has no other goal than to write music that can be used as worship in the church for the glory of Jesus Christ. We do not want to be rockstars. We love young people and desire to use popular forms of music as a means to reach them with an authentic, modern, passionate style that means them where they are.
The bands influences are David Crowder, Coldplay, U2, Jars of Clay, Live, Our Lady Peace, Counting Crows. Visit Amnot at www.amnotworship.com.
AOEDE
Aoede (ay-ee-dee) is Ear Candy... sassy San Francisco duo Lisa Sniderman and David Sands perform their delicious blend of acoustic rock, pop and muse music for the soul-strong vocals combine with memorable melodies and catchy lyrics that keep you humming and coming back for more!
For Lisa, songwriting is like continually stitching together the different pieces of a crazy patchwork quilt. The common thread holding her quilt together is “muse.” In Greek Mythology, Aoede (ay-ee-dee) was one of the first muses and the name means “song.” Lisa fronted a cover band for a few years during which she began to write and play her originals and felt the muse seep into her, fueling her expression like listening to some fantastic dream.
In Aoede, you can hear the influences of artists such as Sam Phillips, Aimee Mann, Shawn Colvin, Sarah McLachlan, Sarah Harmer, and Tori Amos, combined with the emotional intensity and dark undertones of New Model Army, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. Aoede's new EP, Ear Candy, now available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/aoede.

BROTHERS IN ARMS BAND
Intensity, Integrity, and Independence, these three words encapsulate the lifestyle and stance of Brothers in Arms Band - one of the most powerful and inventive new rock bands to emerge on the scene. Formed in the heart and soul of the Midwest, this Dayton, OH Band makes a Buzz no matter where they go. "It takes much more for a band to really make a personal connection with people" says front man Craig Brooks, Brothers in Arms Band understands this. As proven throughout their debut album "Dirt On My Bones", (lead vocalist and guitarist) Craig Brooks, (Bassist and vocals) Brad Knapp, and (drummer) Bryan Knapp have fully absorbed decades of influences ranging from the heavy classic sounds of Black Sabbath to the soulful grooves of Gov't Mule and the likes of Brothercane. These influences have all filtered through their original blend of musical perspective. The result is a musical concoction of aggressive, melodic, guitar-driven rock & roll with soulfully intense yet tasteful vocals.
This is what sets the pace for the bands future. Nashville recording artist Brothers in Arms Band prepares the follow- up release to their debut album "Dirt on My Bones" with their eclectic more mature work entitled "Edge of My Mind" recorded at Quad Studio, and Cylo Recording in Nashville, TN. The Band explains, "you can't sit down and just write hit songs. You have to write from the heart." The band's sophomore album clearly shows what the trio is capable of a career in the industry.Listen to Brothers in Arms Band at myspace. .

JONATHAN BYRD
"The most buzzed-about new songwriter in folkdom." - Scott Alarik, Boston Globe -
Jonathan Byrd was one of six winners of the 2003 New Folk competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival. How much of an honor is that? Lyle Lovett, Nancy Griffith, and Shawn Colvin have all been finalists at the legendary Texas festival.
Jonathan's career started with a contest. In the year 2000, Byrd took grand prize in the North Carolina Songwriter's Coop Song contest in his hometown of Carrboro, NC. Inspired, he began to tour and recorded his first CD, Wildflowers. With spare production, these simple tales of love and death made a surprising impact.
Born in Fayetteville, NC, Jonathan got his musical start singing in a Baptist church. After learning piano and classical flute, he convinced his father to buy him a cheap electric guitar. The adolescent Byrd started breaking the rewind button on cassette players, learning Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix licks. Jonathan headed straight from high school into the Navy, carrying a guitar behind his bunk for three tours in the Mediterranean.
Back home, Byrd began to connect with a vibrant folk music scene. At fiddle meets and festivals, Jonathan fell in love with traditional music. And through music, he found a connection with his native ground. His writing took a hairpin turn, as he flat picked fiddle tunes and began writing new ballads. In June 2003, The Waitress was ranked no. 22 in airplay from the international folk DJ group, folkdj-l.
